Reading to a special horseChildren are introduced to live horses and provided with their own book,  The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. The horses provide a spark to encourage them to want to read. Learning about the horses and then visiting the horses creates excitement and adventure as the children explore and enjoy contact with the animals through a series of safe, carefully planned activities. Each stimulating activity centre concludes with the children reading to a horse. The horses provide a friendly and non-judgmental audience for the young readers. Teachers and parents are surprised when the children read so confidently to the horses.

The Arabian Horse Reading Literacy Project is available in two different formats.
